Precious metals, unlike stainless steel, are "living" materials and therefore require special care to maintain their appearance. If you are interested in how to maintain your jewellery, so it stays pretty for as long as possible, this article is for you.
Everyday Care
Precious metals can tarnish when exposed to salty air, chlorine, humidity, perspiration, cosmetics and other chemicals. To prevent tarnishing, we recommend that you do not wear your fine jewellery during the following activities:
- Showering, swimming in the pool or sea
- Use of perfumes or other cosmetics
- Sports
- Cooking
- Washing your hands
It's best to store your jewellery in the jewellery box that comes with it, as it will be protected from scratches and tarnishing to a certain degree.
Cleaning of Precious Metals
If your jewellery is tarnished, cleaning it is very easy. You can use the Polishing Cloth, which you receive free with every order. Polish every surface of your jewellery piece until it is shiny again. Since some of our pieces are additionally painted, we do not recommend using other methods of polishing customICE Zürich jewellery (with aluminium foil, toothpaste or backing soda). If your jewellery needs more cleaning, you may use warm, soapy water to rinse it off.
